Small mask of the Tairona culture in gold.
This important mask is made in a thin layer of gold by the method of lost wax, and was used as a pendant or amulet.
Represents the face of a male character (chief of the tribe or shaman?) With open eyes, large eyebrows, small earrings on the ears and two small holes on the top that served to hang it around the neck.
Its origin is the Sierra de Santa Marta in Colombia, during the years 900-1700 AD.
Its important to note that the mask has traces of dirt and a small fissure next to the nose.
It is a very rare piece of great cultural value.
